Back at the Bunker...

...after a whirlwind weekend trip to Santa Fe with the Sweetie, sort of an orgy of green chili and margaritas. Dinner at Maria's (the chili rellenos, of course), late lunch at The Shed (enchiladas with red sauce, of course), stocking up on Hatch chili powder and The Shed red sauce for the long year ahead and a new leather top hat pour moi. Mostly just a chance  to be away a few days in a place we love.

The big news:

SHOOTING GALLERY'S NEW SEASON
"LUCKY SEASON 13"
STARTS TOMORROW,
WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT THE RANGE
AT 10:30 PM Eastern!

Different schedule this year, with only the PRIME TIME slot, 10:30PM Eastern, being the Lucky Season 13 original. Set your DVRs accordingly. We did special "Lucky Season 13" graphics and opening just for fun.

Tomorrow's episode to launch the season is DUEL IN THE SUN, 3-Gunners versus Cowboys. You'll love it! Lots of shooting, lots of competition and lots of fun. We're very proud of this season...the new hour-long format is coming along swimmingly. We tried a lot of new things this season as part of the continued build-out of the new format. Let us know what you like and don't like about the new season!

Here's a super article looking at gun control from a very Ayn Rand-ian perspective, from Harry Binswanger at Forbes:
Statistics about how often gun-related crimes occur in the population is no evidence against you. That’s collectivist thinking. The choices made by others are irrelevant to the choices that you will make. People understand the wrongness of collectivist thinking in other cases. They would indignantly reject the idea that a member of a given racial group is under suspicion because 10 percent of those with his skin color commit crimes. But the individualist approach also applies to gun ownership and concealed carrying of guns: group ratios offer no evidence about what a given individual will do.
Finally, a great piece from my old friend Massad Ayoob on what good people need semi-auto firearms and 30 round magazines:
The reasoning is strikingly clear. The cops are the experts on the current criminal trends. If they have determined that a “high capacity” semiautomatic pistol and a .223 semiautomatic rifle with 30-round magazines are the best firearms for them to use to protect people like me and my family, they are obviously the best things for us to use to protect ourselves and our families.
Read the whole thing!

BTW, I wanted to mention some heroes of the current gun buying frenzy, companies that are doing their best to "hold the line." Both Brownell's and Midway USA are, of course, out of AR magazines, but they are allowing backorders, working as quickly as possible to fill those backorders and not jacking their prices through the ceiling. Thank you!

Enjoy your New Year's Day! And remember...

Michael, Thank you for the information about the restaurants in Santa Fe, N.M. I plan on taking my wife there in the near future and we are both looking forward to trying the food there. It is less than 500 miles from our "bunker" in Tucson, Az. Keep up the excellent work. God bless you and yours in 2013. You are the best.
