Good Thoughts...

Have I mentioned to you guys that I have a newfound appreciation of the AR-15 pistol? I've been bopping around all over the place, and a Rock River piston AR pistol has become a near-constant companion. It's as reliable as dirt, and a couple of PMAGS with TAP seems like a wise move in troubles times.

Interesting enough, I've been hired by a major hunting magazine to write up my top 10 AR platform guns at SHOT. The Colt LE901 is so going to be on that list. Also the DoubleStar Constant Carry Carbine. Me and Steve Hunter are going to be stalking the SHOT floor Friday searing what's cool and what's not.

I'll post appearances and signing tomorrow: I'll definitely be at the ARMSCOR/Rock Island booth, the DoubleStar boot and with my friends at Tactical Solutions. here will also be a big WHOOP-DE-DOO at Crimson Trace for the premiere of the newLaser's Edge training video with me, Iain Harrison, Julie Golub, Richard Mann, Todd Jarrett and Dave Starin. Times posted tomorrow!

I'd like to see your take on the top HD carbine (shorty with a suppressor?), top 3 gun carbine (JP?) and top training class carbine (light weight?) included in the list.

MB, if they are there, stop in by Huldra and check them out. They are making the AR rifles for Fleet Farm stores commonly found here in the Midwest. I just watched their open letter video on YouTube to the Minnesota Senators and Representatives. Always great to see an industry business willing to stand tall in these tough times.

Michael, you read my mind. Having given up on finding a barrel for a .300 AAC Blackout carbine build, I've elected to opt for an AR-15 pistol - courtesy of a barrel bought from a friend. Let's just hope our CO Representatives allow us to keep them!

Have a GREAT time at Shot Show - and stop in and see my friends at Domari Nolo if you have the time.

Here's the link to the Hulda/FleetFarm video. Nicely done video, good to see a business take one the gun-grabbers.

MB, it pains me to say this, but gun porn means nothing to me now. There is only one issue I am paying attention to.

Just a thought. I have been thinking of this for a while. There a number of folks in the shooting community who are immigrants. Guys like Iain Harrison of CT and Angus Hobdell of CZ come immediately to mind. Why won't someone bring them together for a video on why they came to America? Each has a story of being demonized back in their home countries for being gun owners. What a great message to bring to the public. I would love to see that on youtube or even SG. Just a thought.

It's a good idea, Larry, and I'll bring it up. Keep in mind, though theta we're no longer playing to sway public attention...the only way we stop what is happening is sheer numbers...all the calls, all the letters, all the emails, all the pressure.

We had almost a decade to do the hearts and minds thing, and that is exactly what I and Tom Gresham and Jim Scoutten and the others have been doing. The antis have not gotten the huge swing in public opinion that they assumed...that's because I and a lot of other dedicated, hard-working people got things to a tipping point. Whether that holds or not remains to be seen, but we have dedicated our lives to the Cause.

You need to remember that even while we fight, we have to keep doing what we do. I will go to SHOT next week, and and the strategy sessions and the war planning, I will look at guns, pick out my favorites, and do as much "gun porn" as we can.
